Wednesday is my thursday

So today is the Thursday of my work week since I'll be flying to Omaha Friday for a few days.  I'm looking forward to seeing my friends and family, as well as watching the Nebraska homecoming football game with my brother and his wife.  Good times!

I got offered the firm tickets for the Nationals baseball game tonight.  I accepted happily with plans to take BF, as he's a big Nats fan, but has somehow never been to a game!  The firm seats are, of course, pretty awesome, and I was looking forward to him getting to enjoy the game from a pretty sweet spot. However, much needed rain is looming over our area, and it's supposed to roll in round one mid-afternoon, but with the bulk of the rain coming later this evening.  Best forecast I've heard is for the rain to hold off for a few innings of the game before settling in, but it's such a gamble.  BF will have to park at a Metro station, take the train in, which involves a transfer (and he's not a Metro professional like me, LOL), and meet me in the city for the game.  I'd hate to have him go through all that hassle just to have it rain two innings in!  Guess we'll see.

In unrelated news...I'm currently trying to convert two of my girlfriends to WhatsApp.  It's a messaging app that I use to talk to BF all the time, as well as a couple other people.  I love it way more than all the other messaging apps for whatever reason, and I'm pushing it hardcore with these two for one reason:  group messaging.  They both have iphones, and I'm Android.  For some reason, our group texts are a mess for me, and it shows up as a group text and an individual text in a separate tab, and it's annoying.  Group texting is so much easier on WhatsApp, so I'm trying to convert them. I'd like to convert EVERYONE to it.  :-)

All personnel luncheon at work today.  It's the same old thing they love to get every other month, but I can't complain too much since it's a free meal:  Peruvian chicken, rice, salad, fruit and cookies.  At least I didn't have to worry about rummaging something up at home!  My cupboards are pretty bare, and since I'll be gone for four days this weekend I didn't feel motivated to shop much.  My grocery store trip last night was mostly soup and crackers for Thursday and a few Greek yogurts.  :-p

I'm not super motivated today.  I feel like I'm just waiting for the firm luncheon to start!  Guess I should do something....

  1. I love love love Whatsapp, although I get a little annoyed when I see the "last seen at 13:00" and I have not received a reply! All this modern technology and yet, it's the same old dilemma! I love how easy it is/its simple interface and how simply it is to send photos (unlike other apps). I just wish that on Android that it was a 'one-off' payment like on Apple, rather than renewing every year or purchasing a licence for 3 years! So convert away :-D

Omaha sounds amazing! I hope you have a great time!

    1. I know what you mean about the timestamp! Luckily BF is pretty quick to reply, and he's the one I talk to most on there.

It is much simpler than texting to me, and you're right, the pics are easier in that format, too. Plus, it just feels like a real, ongoing conversation moreso than texting.

I may just pay for three years when my renewal is up in October, as it's insanely cheap and then I don't have to worry about it!

  2. Maybe you should just convert to iPhone. iMessage is king.

    1. LOL, nope. I'm an Android girl! Plus, it's MUCH cheaper for them to get WhatsApp than it is for me to switch out my phone a year plus before my contract is up. ;-)

  3. I've got an Android too, but my corporate phone is an iPhone so I've gotten ample experience with both. I must say I do love the iPhone, and I am NOT an Apple person. But my Android is crappy... I get free Motorola phones thanks to a family connection, but I've gone through 4 smartphones in 2 yrs, which says something!

    1. I don't know what I'll get the next time my contract is up....it's over a year away, so who knows what kind of phone choices will be out there by then. :-) I would bet it won't be an iphone, though LOL. I almost couldn't do it now just on principle!

  4. Hmmm, I'm curious as to what you mean when you say texting is easier/more like a convo on WhatsApp (aside from the group messaging part). I don't know anyone else who uses it besides you and Ms. Scheherazade! A Droid was my last phone, and now I have an iPhone...I'm hoping the iPhone lasts all the way until the end of my 2 year contract. The Droid gave out on me a couple months before renewal! But I guess all the phone manufacturers aim to make them not last.

Did the Nats game end up working out? A girl friend and I were at a game recently (one where the Nats played our team, actually, haha) and we thought it would be hilarious if we tried to talk to boys about the baseball game but use all the wrong sports terminology...like, "Wasn't that crazy how they made two goals in the fifth period??!"

    1. I had a couple friends turn me onto WhatsApp a year or two ago. The main thing for me is that it feels more like a conversation than regular texting, as you can see when the other person is typing or "online". I also find that it's easier for group chatting, in particular with my two gfs who have iphones. Group texts with them are just a mess, Whatsapp is just easier!

I totally agree about the life of the phones...my last Galaxy S4 crapped out on me just two months shy of my contract ending!

No Nats game, it got postponed because of rain! Disappointing!
